The World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies
The World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) was established on September 25, 2003. It is an international academic organization approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs, in charge of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and headquartered in Beijing, China. As of December 2021, WFCMS has 288 group members and 193 branches in 74 countries and regions. The WFCMS is an NGO member of the World Health Organization, an A-level liaison unit of the International Organization for Standardization, and a intangible cultural heritage consulting agency of UNESCO and obtained the special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2021.
The purpose of the WFCMS is to enhance exchanges and cooperation between Chinese medicine groups and institutions in various countries (regions) in the world, and between Chinese medicine and various medicines in the world, strengthen academic exchanges, information exchanges, and achievements exchanges, and improve the level of Chinese medicine business. Inherit and develop Chinese medicine, promote the international dissemination and development of Chinese medicine, promote the entry of Chinese medicine into the medical and health care systems of various countries, and make greater contributions to human health.
The main business scope of the WFCMS is: 1. To carry out various academic activities, to promote exchanges and cooperation between Chinese medicine groups in countries and regions around the world, to improve the academic level of traditional Chinese medicine, to build an international exchange platform for Chinese medicine, to promote the exchanges of Chinese medicines and health care products. 2. To formulate international organization standards related to Chinese medicine to promote the healthy and orderly development of Chinese medicine in countries around the world; 3. To organize and carry out qualification (level) examinations for Chinese medicine practitioners at all levels , to improve the quality of Chinese medicine practitioners; 4. To organize various and all levels of Chinese medicine medical treatment, skills, and health care training to improve the professional ability of Chinese medicine treatment and health care personnel; 5. Provide talent exchange services, ensure the talent needs of Chinese medicine groups, and promote the development of Chinese medicine groups; 6. Establish a portal website, carry out information exchange, provide consulting services, remote consultation, remote training and online office; 7. Publish academic journals to publicize the characteristics and advantages of Chinese medicine; 8. Carry out Ethics certification work to promote the development of Chinese medicine; 9. Carry out the work of Chinese medicine service trade, and promote the exchange and cooperation and win-win cooperation of Chinese medicine service trade in multiple fields and angles.
The WFCMS is committed to promoting the international exchange, dissemination and development of traditional Chinese medicine, uniting colleagues in the Chinese medicine industry from all over the world, and actively striving to build the WFCMS into a link connecting Chinese medicine groups and practitioners in various countries and regions, and promote international exchanges of Chinese medicine. It has gradually become a strategic research base for Chinese medicine, a research and promotion base for international standards of Chinese medicine, and a base for the exchange of Chinese medicine academics, information, talents and products.
